Just because

I thought that I might as well post a little information about the University of Glasgow and Scotland.
  • The University of Glasgow is the fourth oldest university in the English speaking world. It was established in 1451!
  • The university is located near the River Kelvin.  Named because it runs right by Lord Kelvin's old laboratory.
Kelvingrove
  • James Herriot (aka James Alfred Wright) author of All Things Great and Small obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Glasgow.
  • There are more than 790 pubs/clubs in Glasgow (this information was obtained from my welcome packet under "Why Glasgow", heehee).  The theme seems to be "work hard, play harder!"
  • The official animal of Scotland is.....drumroll.....the unicorn!

  • Much of the set inspiration for the Harry Potter movies came from the University of Glasgow.

I have been trying to work on my "to do list" but keep getting distracted (damn squirrels).  I start off being productive, looking at books and recommended supplies (I already have a bunch thanks to some special people here in Tucson), but then I always seem to end up looking at places to visit.  Now at the bottom of my to do list, I have my "places I must visit list."  I really want to take the "chunnel" from London to Paris, explore Spain and Portugal, go back to Italy, see Poland, and so many other places.

Back to being productive!
